Just after the streets were full in Hong Kong in late 2019, they emptied in early 2020. Divisions in families and the city came back home to find small flats new incubation to large fears of covid-19, enduring uncertainties, and waiting. From expectations of exiting self-quarantine, tight spaces, and routine to digging in deeper, discovering ritual: the making of meals at home (cooking!), the making of family (new daily and “long-form” conversations at lunch and dinner), the making of a unique creative and reflective story, to last over time.
